No, it's not part of the castle/courtyard at all.

You can target yourself as it says "target player" and not "target opponent."

You shall never...: Can it be played during player-to-player combat to prevent the winner from taking it? And if so, would it remain in the possesion of the original player, or would it return to the graveyard?
It can be played and it would remain with the current owner. Nasty tactic, but it works.

Ashes to Ashes: If you had a horse and someone plays "Ashes to Ashes" does the horse go with you, or do you lose it?
You don't take the Horse with you.

Ashes to Ashes: If you had a horse, and went into a building and ended your turn in the building, and the next player plays "Ashes to Ashes" do you lose the horse? If so, is the horse still tied up outside the building for someone else to come by and take it, or did it run off?
Once the player is gone from that location, so is the horse.

Black skeleton movement: Can a black skeleton pass through a square with another skeleton on it?
Yes.

Tile Placement

Adjacent tiles: When a card specifies an adjacent tile, does this only mean a tile that is attached on one of the four sides, or would this also include the tiles that may be placed diagonally to the one the player is currently in (ie. "Lost")
Not diagonal, only orthoganol
