Player Combat Rules

If I am combating another player who has the Necronomicon and there is a tie, who gets the Necronomicon?
The person who previously possessed the Necronomicon, after all they have a firm grip on it.

How do I add skeletons to my roll for player combat?
You could add them one at a time, but to speed up the process I would throw them all in at one time as that is essentially what’s going to happen anyway.

So the person at the end of the game with the most skeletons is always going to be able to get the Necronomicon?
Not necessarily. You have to consider card effects as well catching up to the Necronomicon. This game is a bit different than Zombies!!! in that it is very important that you prevent the other players from collecting hoards of Skeletons. Aggressive play early on is absolutely necessary!!!

Can I use any of my weapons when fighting another player?
No. That would be just wrong!

If I have the Necronomicon and start my turn in a square with another player, do I have to fight him for it?
No, you have it. More specifically, if the player with the Necronomicon lands on your square when it is not your turn, you cannot declare combat against him.

If I start my turn in the square with the Necronomicon player, can I fight him right then and there or do I have to land on him?
You can fight before moving.

Do you die when you lose combat with another player?
Absolutely.

Player Movement Rules

Can I move into the squares with trees?
No. None of those squares are accessible for play.

When I have a horse, go into a building, do I get the horse again when I leave?
Yes. The horse is considered to be left on the entrance square to the building.

If a player wants to steal my horse, what square do them have to be on to do this?
The entrance square to the location where you left the horse.

Event Cards

Is the Necronomicon considered an item?
Yep!

It mysteriously appears back in the graveyard. It is a book of magic after all.

With "Give Me That Before You Hurt Yourself", are the skeletons removed from play or given to the player?
They are removed from play.

Adjacent? A handful of cards allow you to attack into 'adjacent' squares or move players to adjacent tiles, or to attack between one and four squares away. Does the shortbow and crossbow assume line of sight? I had someone arguing that the polearm should be usable from one building into another building placed back to back with it. Lost and explosives: does adjacent mean a tile touching it, or a tile one could move to from it, the same for two tiles away with Catapult?
Line of sight should be assumed for the ranged weapons, except for the catapult. Adjacent means a tile touching it (not diagonal). And the polearm cannot be used through walls. Honestly, the weapons should be used and played logically.

How do you measure distance for the catapult?
When trying to figure out what is two or more tiles away, it should be determined by normal player movement. That means that the two tiles away could be diagonal to the one you are on.

There are a couple of cards that let you manipulate your hand (What am I gonna do with that, Give me that before you hurt yourself) during your turn. If I play "Look... nothing in my hand", and play one of those cards, can I then play the new cards or do I have to keep them?
You can play them all as long as you can pay the costs for each card.

When playing "Look...nothing in my hand" can you ignore other normal rules like "Play this card when you've just killed a red skeleton"?
You can only play the cards for which you can pay the “cost.” So, since you didn’t just kill a red skeleton, you cannot play the card. If you can’t play the card, it just remains in your hand.

Setup

Which square on the Altar tile do the players start on at the beginning of the game and when they die?
They start on the center square.

Who decides what kind of skeletons are placed on the Altar?
Whomever sets the game up. Since the player who goes first is chosen randomly after the tile is set up, it really doesn’t matter who decides.

Skeleton Combat

Can I use a ranged weapon when I’m inside a building and the skeleton is outside?
No. You must both be inside or both be outside of a building/location.

Can I use more than one weapon during combat?
No.

When fighting a skeleton two squares away with a ranged weapon, does it have to be two squares in a straight line?
No, it would be two squares by regular movement, but there must be line of sight.

Tile Placement

Do the tiles need to line up with the other tiles so the corners coincide?
No, the only stipulation for tile placement is that you may not cutoff a road or entrance to a tile.

This didn't come up in the game, but looking back through the rules, I noticed that when placing a building tile, skeletons must go in the building, but it doesn't read as though human tokens must be in the buildings; from previous experience, we placed humans in the buildings also. Were we correct?
Yes, you are correct.

Any building tiles - are the backs of the buildings passable? If so can any tile type be played to the back of a building for example the Inn, can you play a corner or straight which would put the exit of the corner or straight pointing at the back of the passable portion of the building?
The backs of the buildings are not passable. These tiles also do not have to be lined up exactly with an adjacent tile. It just has to be placed so that it is accessible by another tile and does not dead end or cut off a road or entrance.

There are lines in the trees indicating "passable" however the rules say no. In "The End" with the monkey card you could climb trees and pass from one to the next. Is this NOT possible in Mid Evil?
Correct. The woods squares are not accessible.

The Mill - Is the water wheel passable?
You would just consider it as part of the building. You can enter the square, just can't pass through it.

The marketplace has one corner with what looks like a tent over it. Looking at it carefully you can see road on the top edge making it seem like you could move through it (like an open air market). Anyhow, the questions are: 1) Is it really an entrance or is it just the way it's drawn? 2) Does it count as an indoor space?
It should be considered an outside space with passage through it. With questions like these, just assume the logical answer.
